Methodology
Scoring marketplace platforms: seven criteria, no estimates
Choosing a marketplace platform is a multi-year commitment, and most vendor pages say the same things. Marketplace Platforms exists to make the market comparable: every platform is described with the same fields and scored with the same method.
43 marketplace platforms are scored out of 100 points, from public sources only: the vendor's own website, legal notices, product documentation, press releases, and the review platforms G2 and Capterra. Each platform page lists its sources and the date they were checked.
The basic rule: nothing is estimated. A capability the vendor does not document publicly scores zero, and the page says “not stated” rather than “no”. A strong product can therefore score low if its vendor publishes little; the scores reward what a buyer can verify.
The platforms cover five types of solution: enterprise marketplace platforms, commerce platforms with a marketplace module, marketplace builders and plugins, dropship and supplier networks, and cloud subscription marketplaces. The type, the target customers, the pricing model and the AI capability families are grouped by the editor from what each vendor describes; they are labelled as such on the pages where they appear.
No vendor can pay to be listed, to move up or to be removed. Mirakl is the reference platform of the head-to-head comparison pages: that choice decides which comparison pages exist, not how anyone is scored.

The scoring
How the 100 points are split
Enterprise trust
20 ptsHalf: recognised security certifications (ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS; two count in full). Half: customers named on the vendor site (four count in full).
AI capabilities
20 ptsNumber of AI capability families the vendor documents (catalogue data, onboarding, search, moderation, advertising, agents, operations); four count in full.
Marketplace operations
17 ptsSeller onboarding, catalogue, order and commission management, split payments: one fifth each, when stated on the vendor site.
Ecosystem
15 ptsHalf: e-commerce platforms it integrates with (four count in full). Half: named payment partners (three count in full).
User reviews
12 ptsG2 and Capterra reviews pooled, Bayesian average (25 virtual reviews at the market mean); a platform without reviews scores the mean.
Business models and architecture
11 ptsMarketplace models covered (B2C, B2B, dropship, services, digital; three count in full), plus headless API and multi-currency.
Revenue levers
5 ptsRevenue for the operator beyond commission: retail media and dropship.
What the data shows
- 15 of the 43 platforms publish a price; enterprise platforms are quote-based.
- 35 state a headless API, 14 dropship support and 11 retail media.
- 36 have at least one rating on G2 or Capterra. Ratings are pooled and smoothed (a Bayesian average with 25 virtual reviews at the market mean), so that a 5.0 from one review does not beat a 4.6 from 135.
